The Loudoun Knights are excited Rob Getsy will continue coaching at the 8U level for the 23/24 season. Coach Getsy was born and raised in Gaithersburg, MD and started playing hockey at age 6.

"Rob did an amazing job last season developing our grassroots level players and preparing them to take a big step forward this season", said Loudoun Knights Hockey Director Craig Desjarlais. "Rob has a deep hockey background and adds so much value to the program".

Starting in the Montgomery Youth hockey program, Coach Getsy played travel hockey through 12U. From there, he moved on to play with the Washington Little Caps for 3 years, followed by the Washington Jr Capitals for two additional seasons. Following Juniors, Rob attended Bentley University, where he skated for two seasons with the Falcons in the NCAA Division 1 MAAC Conference.

Rob has been coaching for 8 years and is a level 4 USA Hockey coach. This includes 3 Seasons as the head coach of the Herndon High School team and more recently, as the head coach of the 8U LA Knights and 8U Spring Selects.

Rob’s coaching philosophy starts with an individualized approach to teaching each player, in addition to honing the basic skills. While all players can always improve on the basics, each has different strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.

Rob is the owner of a digital marketing firm, based in Northern Virginia. He has been married for 9 years, and he and his wife have two children (1 boy and 1 girl).
